Jimbaran

The tiny fishing village of Jimbaran, a couple of kilometres south of Ngurah Rai Airport, has flowered into a pleasant litle resort. A dozen developments front the beach here, most of them upmarket chain hotels, but the pace is still unhurried and the sand soft and golden.
Jimbaran is famous throughout Bali for its fish, and every morning at dawn the fishermen return to trade their catches at the Kedonganan market at far northern end of the beach. In the evening, the days catch is served up at the dozens of beach warung that specialize in barbecued seafood. Most of Jimbarans villagers live away from the beach, down the gang that runs off the main Kuta - Jimbaran - Uluwatu road, which cuts a swathe through the heart of the village.
